Sticky Sticky Ribs.

I discovered this recipe when I was shopping at Foodtown, told my friends that I would make this dish in early April. And now it’s September.. How time flies…. well the long wait is finally over! This meal is delectable for all, esp those meat- lovers (Me). This was my first attempt and I’m very pleased with the result. Got my hands all nice n sticky whilst eating these ribs! Delish!

Hope you enjoy this recipe 🙂

Sticky Ribs

Serves 4-6

This recipe is from Foodinaminute, I’ve adapted to it slightly.

  • 1.5 kg pork or beef spare ribs
  • 1/2 cup HP Sauce
  • 1 1/2 cup Golden Circle Pineapple Juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tsp minced ginger
  • 1 tsp crushed garlic
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tsp salt

  1. Cut the pork spare ribs into 2-3 pieces and set aside.
  2. Make the marinade: Combine the HP sauce, pineapple juice, soy, ginger, garlic honey and salt and mix well.
  3. Place the ribs in a large saucepan and pour over the marinade. Cover and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes – stirring the mixture to evenly work the marinade.
  4. Remove the ribs and set aside.
  5. Simmer the remaining marinade until thickened.
  6. If you’re indoors and using the oven, line a baking tray with baking paper and preheat to 200°C, place the ribs on the baking sheet and brush the reduced marinade over the ribs.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes.
  8. EAT

NB: The initial marinade mixture will taste a little sour however, once it’s been reduced and thickened, the sauce should take on a sweeter note.

Turn on some rugby and eat to your hearts content!
